Hey everybody,

I just installed MW2 but when I launch the game I get these weird codes instead of normal text. I attached an image to give you a better view of the problem. The game works just fine (with some guessing I could start the campaign but I'm experiencing the same problem in the in-game movies, the subtitles are in weird symbols and when I'm playing the game all text is replaced by weird stuff :s) if not for these symbols. Anybody have a clue what is going on and how to fix it? Thanks in advance!

Try to update the Direct X...and the Video Card Drivers...

Not dreadful, though ....at least you can still be playing...

I think I found out why the text is blurry. When I try to install the game it gives an error at the end of the installation "error incomplete installation" in the steam window. But I am still able to play the game and I get this error even after trying to reinstall the game, any suggestions what might cause this?

Hmm, the first few times I installed it I didn't have the error either. It's only after the third time that I got it. I sent a mail to the activision support site, when they send me an answer I'll let you know

This is the response I got from the activision support section. In a nutshell he tells me to upgrade my graphics card driver because it might be outdated. For me this didn't help (there aren't even drivers available for the mobility radeon x1900 series on the amd website but I did find drivers on my manufacturers web page). I also tried disabling the pre-load background problems but still the problem persists. Hopefully these (potential) solutions might help some of you

Hello, It actually looks like you are using a laptop. This would pose an issue as laptop graphics card drives are usually more outdated than desktop graphic card drivers. You should check with your computer manufacturer to see if they have any updated drivers available for your Mobility Radeon x1900 graphics card. You can also try checking the http://www.ati.com webpage for this. You may also have conflicting programs running in the background, shutdown your background programs using the following procedure: Windows will have some programs pre loading without prompting you. You can use the system configuration utility in Windows XP and Windows Vista to tell windows not to pre-load these background programs that can interfere with the game.
1. Go to your start button and select RUN and in the box labeled OPEN type MSCONFIG and press the OK button. (Windows Key + R brings up the box)
2. Click on the tab that reads SERVICES
3. Check the box that reads "Hide all Microsoft Services"
4. Click on the button that reads "DISABLE ALL"
5. Now click on the tab that reads START UP.
6. Click on the button the reads "DISABLE ALL" and press the OK button. Windows will prompt you to restart the system.
7. Once windows restarts then you may get a message that the SELECTIVE STARTUP has been used.
8. Just close the message box. Now try the game.

I've had the same problem, but managed to solve it. I have a laptop and an radeon mobility graphics card. Problem was an outdated driver, because Ati doesn't offically support my card anymore. If you the same configuration you can solve it by using mobility modder tool found here http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php , to update your driver to the latest possible.

I had the same problem and still cannot resolve My graphics card is ATI Radeon Mobility X2500 - Newest Driver 8.401 from Acer Support's Site and DirectX10 - Vista SP2. Anyone help please >"<
